A look into an illuminated infinity — a void beyond just mere garments.

“Through the Looking-Glass” is a refracted lens of your surroundings, taking the eye into a dark void. Reflective surfaces and LEDs are used to create a black-hole illusion transporting you beyond what is seen. This effect is the main feature of the garment, where the front panel employs the use of the infinity mirror, becoming the statement piece.

A dramatic skirt made of a wire mesh cage and black cotton flows out behind where shards of mirror scatter the frame. The skirt is held by both a harness and belt supporting the cage and front mirror panel. The black-hole illusion is replicated through the back of the skirt enhancing the idea of a deep void questioning what is seen before them.

This piece was showcased at Victoria University's Wearable Technology Show on 28th October 2016 along with various other projects. It was then displayed in the End-of-Year Exhibition and the Faculty of Design and Architecture spotlight case.
